I invite you to share your story. This web site was created to not only tell my story, but also as a safe place for others to share theirs. I know it is quite difficult finding a safe person with which we can share our stories about facing unplanned pregnancies and the decisions that followed.
When I went through the post-abortive Bible study, and I was able to share my story with other women, I truly felt healing taking place. I know for a fact that speaking out loud of my experience was a huge part of my healing. It was so freeing to be able to release and openly speak of my past and all my emotions. It was such a relief to take those events and dig them out of my heart and soul, airing them out and letting them go. Hiding the truth in darkness gives it such a terrible power over us. It’s like “scary monsters in the night” which paralyze us with fear and increase our fearful imaginations of terrible things. But when the truth is exposed to the light, it loses that power over us.
The less I have worked at keeping my past buried deep down and hidden within me, the less negative power and control it has had over me. Until the post-abortive class, I did not even realize how much shame and guilt I was carrying while I was making sure that the grave of my past was not disturbed or looked upon by anyone else.
I do not believe we need to go around carelessly sharing our story with anyone, anywhere. Some people in our lives would be hurt too deeply and affected negatively by the truth. However, I do believe there are those with whom we can and should share so that healing can progress and we can experience greater freedom and peace. May this site be such a place.
